OPERATING PRINCIPLE

How Reducing Hex Nipple Works

1. **Hexagonal Reducing Male-Threaded Fitting**: Features male threads of different sizes at each end, with a hexagonal section in the middle to facilitate gripping with a wrench and controlling torque. Designed for connecting two internally threaded ports of different diameters.

  1. 2. **Precision-Machined Construction**

Characterized by uniform wall thickness and a dense, solid structure—free from sand holes or air pockets—ensuring reliable pressure resistance.

  2. 3. **AISI 304 Stainless Steel**

Offers excellent rust and corrosion resistance; suitable for use with fresh water, mildly corrosive media, and outdoor installations.

  3. 4. **Precision Male Threads**

Available in NPT, BSPT, or BSPP thread specifications. Thread tolerances comply with ISO 7-1, DIN 2999, or ANSI B1.20.1 standards, ensuring a leak-free connection.

  4. 5. **150LB Pressure Rating**

Complies with the ISO 4144 standard, making it suitable for general industrial piping systems.

  5. 6. **Pickled and Passivated Surface**

Features a uniform metallic luster, which further enhances corrosion resistance; the body can also be marked or engraved as required.

  6. 7. **Wide Range of Size Combinations**

Available in various size configurations, ranging from 1/4″×1/8″ to 4″×3″; supports OEM branding and customization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about sizing, materials, threaded connections and operating conditions.

1、 What is a Reducing Hex Nipple?

Reducing Hex Nipple is a straight threaded fitting with **male external threads on both ends, but with different thread sizes**. A hexagonal section in the middle allows wrench holding and tightening. It connects two female threaded ports of different bore sizes in a straight pipeline to reduce or increase flow diameter.
> Note: Distinguish from Equal Hex Nipple, both ends have identical thread sizes.

2、What is the difference between Reducing Hex Nipple and Equal Hex Nipple?

– Reducing Hex Nipple: Two male thread ends with **different sizes**, used to transition between two different pipe diameters.
– Equal Hex Nipple: Both male thread ends have the **same size**, for connecting pipes of identical diameter.

3、 What thread standards are available?

NPT (ANSI B1.20.1), BSPT / BSPP (ISO7/1, BS EN 10226). Metric thread M available for custom order.
> Important reminder: NPT and BSPT are not fully interchangeable. Wrong thread match will cause leakage. Please specify thread standard clearly on inquiry or PO, together with size of each end.

4、 What materials can you supply?

– Stainless steel 304 / 316L (corrosion resistant, water, gas, chemical, instrument piping)

5、 What applications?

Water supply, compressed air, natural gas, fire protection, HVAC, instrument piping, oil, low & medium pressure industrial pipeline, plumbing systems.

6、What applications?

Water supply, compressed air, natural gas, fire protection, HVAC, instrument piping, oil, low & medium pressure industrial pipeline, plumbing systems.

7、Can you provide MTC material certificate?

Yes, EN10204 3.1 MTC with heat number is available. EN10204 3.2 third-party certificate can be arranged at buyer’s extra cost.

8、Surface finish options?

Standard: pickled matte finish.

9、Can you do laser marking?

Yes. We can mark size, grade, heat number, customer logo or brand on the flats.

10、Packaging for sea shipment?

Male threads are protected by plastic thread caps. Packed into export cartons, then loaded on fumigated wooden pallets with waterproof stretch film to avoid scratch and thread damage.

11、What is the lead time?

Typically, shipments are dispatched within 7–15 days of receiving the deposit, depending on the order quantity.

12、How is quality controlled?

Raw material inspection → CNC machining → Thread inspection → Hydrostatic testing → Visual inspection → Final dimensional verification before packaging.

13、Which Incoterms are available for overseas buyers?

We offer FOB (Free On Board) terms, with the shipment originating from a Chinese port. We will provide a commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading for import customs clearance.

14、Which Incoterms are available for buyers?

We offer FOB (Free On Board) or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) terms, with shipments originating from a Chinese port. We will provide a commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading for customs clearance.

15、What should be done if the threads are found to be defective or do not meet requirements upon arrival?

Please provide photos, videos, and inspection records. We will assess the root cause; depending on the contractual terms, solutions may include product replacement, a partial refund, or a reshipment.
