What is Hex Cap?
Hex cap is a solid closed pipe fitting with **internal female thread and hexagonal outer flats**. It is used to seal / blank male threaded pipe ends, nipples or male studs. The hex shape allows wrench tightening and easy removal.
Important: **Hex Cap (female thread, cover male end) ≠ Hex Plug (male thread, screw into female port)**. They cannot be swapped.
What thread standards are available?
Available thread options:
– NPT (ASME B1.20.1, tapered)
– BSPT / Rc (EN 10226, tapered)
– BSPP / G (ISO 228-1, parallel)
Threads are NOT interchangeable. Please confirm thread standard before placing orders.
What stainless steel grades can you supply?
Standard grades:
– 304 / CF8
– 316 / 316L / CF8M (for coastal, chloride, chemical, marine service)
Duplex, 321 and other special alloys can be quoted on custom request.
What standard and pressure rating?
Normally manufactured per ASME B16.11, 150LB / 3000LB; cast version also available in 150LB (PN16).
Pressure rating depends on material, wall thickness and class. We will confirm rating once size and schedule are confirmed.
Which thread standards are supported?
BSPT, BSPP (G), or NPT standards are supported. Please specify the required thread type when placing an order.
Manufacturing process: casting or bar stock machined?
Stock sizes: lost wax investment casting.
High-pressure / high-precision requirement: solid bar CNC machined, higher cost.
Installation guidance & anti-galling tips?
For tapered thread (NPT / BSPT): apply PTFE tape on the male thread before assembly.
For parallel BSPP thread: a sealing washer is normally required.
Stainless steel threads are easy to gall. Tighten slowly with controlled torque, do not over-torque. Anti-seize compound is recommended for repeated disassembly.
Surface finish options?
Standard: pickled matte finish. Optional: bright polish / satin brushed for food & sanitary pipelines.
Packaging for sea shipment?
Thread openings protected by plastic caps to avoid thread damage and dirt. Packed into export cartons, then loaded on fumigated wooden pallets with waterproof stretch film.
What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
Small-batch orders are accepted, and a single order may include products of different specifications.
What is the lead time?
Typically, shipments are dispatched within 7–15 days of receiving the deposit, depending on the order quantity.
How is quality controlled?
Raw material inspection → CNC machining → Thread inspection → Hydrostatic testing → Visual inspection → Final dimensional verification before packaging.
Which Incoterms are available for overseas buyers?
We offer FOB (Free On Board) terms, with the shipment originating from a Chinese port. We will provide a commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading for import customs clearance.

Hex Cap
304 Stainless Steel Cast/Forged Hex Pipe Cap (Female Threaded), available in pressure ratings of 150LB or 3000LB, with options for NPT or BSP threads. This component is manufactured from 304 stainless steel via casting or forging and features internal (female) threads. Its exterior is hexagonal in shape, allowing for easy installation or removal using a wrench. It is primarily used to seal the ends of externally threaded pipes, providing a permanent seal or serving as a plug during pressure testing. The fitting offers excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for a wide range of industrial piping systems. Material Test Certificates (MTC) are available upon request.
